Flights, airports and delightful people...

I flew from Durban airport and arrived in Johannesburg full of anticipation and ready to take on the world so to speak. My belly dance teacher Shanon had relocated to Johannesburg and I managed to meet up with her and spend an action packed day driving around JHB and visiting all her favourite spots. After driving my back to the airport (with time to spare…thank goodness) she handed over a few goodies she had made me (namely a beautiful belly dance skirt, pants and jewelry) It made me even more excited to get to India!!!
Some of the jewelry Shan gave me is in this picture
I boarded the plane and was met by an air hostess who promptly asked,”Are you flying alone today?” (Which by the way makes you feel about the same as someone asking you are dining alone … on Valentine’s Day!) I told her I was, and was asked to swap seats so a family could sit together…major guilt trip, like I’m honesty going to say no? After holding out two tickets she said I could chose which seat I preferred, not knowing the exact seating plan of a – well whatever type of plane we were flying in, I grabbed one and headed to my new location, for the next 8 hours – UGH! Lady luck had smiled on me, as I ended up sitting a row in front of this multiracial couple, she was from JHB and he was from India…perfect! So they talked to me awhile, warning me about certain fates I would soon face but also encouraging me to experience true India and not just the ‘tourist India’ many people see. Once we arrived in Dubai, my new found friends instructed me as to what I had to do, namely walk around and shop but not to miss my connection flight! They agreed to meet up with me just before boarding time to make sure everything went smoothly. I can’t remember these two wonderful people’s name, but thank you so much to them for all their help!

Hmmm, look at the hose next to the toilet...really?
